MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

Brenna Batres, MSW, LICSW

Hi! I'm a bilingual psychotherapist located in the Twin Cities. I believe that healing happens within the therapeutic relationship. I want to get to know YOU; your past, your environment, the people who are important to you, your goals. I seek to form an authentic relationship, where you feel safe exploring the parts of you that you often hide from others, or even yourself. I am empathetic and non-judgmental. I gently challenge my clients when there are patterns or thoughts that are getting in the way of their goals.

I am trained in and draw from elements of many evidenced-based therapy modalities including EMDR (Eye-movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy), Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), CBT, ACT, Psychodynamic therapy, and Mindfulness. I also am an advocate for holistic and ancestral practices.

I have over ten years of experience as a psychotherapist, supporting a diverse caseload of clients from many countries, backgrounds, identities, and a variety of ages.

For 10 years I  worked as a psychotherapist and clinical intern supervisor at a non-profit, CLUES (Communidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio).  My prior experience includes a position as a human rights intern in El Salvador, working with pregnant and parenting teens and individuals who experienced domestic violence in Chicago, working as a case manager with families experiencing homelessness in Northern California, and supporting survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence in Bolivia.

I identify as a white-anglo woman and am committed to the on-going process of anti-racism, feminism, and decolonization of oppressive practices.

I am a board-approved supervisor by the Minnesota Board of Social Work
